The ending was horrible. Specially when my Kindle was telling me that I was at 93% read- which in my mind means- that's a few chapters left! yay!- however, it lied to me. lol I was pretty much at the end. I want to know what happens NOW, not later. *grumble*

As per all of my reviews, I never go into the plot and storyline- I generally figure that there's at least 5 reviews that regurgitate the synopsis on the back cover.

Arturo was honestly the better character throughout this book. I believe he definitely redeemed himself from the first book. I wasn't so sure I liked him much in that book.

Quinn? I'm not completely sure that I like her. She has some very good traits, however she is way too stubborn and usually does something entirely stupid. Can some of this be explained by her past- yeah, pretty much; however, not all of it!

The world that the author creates is not the most pleasant (it's pretty horrific), but I see so much potential. I'm enjoying the world although I'd never want to live there.

Standalone book? Most certainly not. You really should read the first before you attempt this one. If you do not, you're going to be scratching your head a lot.

I really enjoyed this book but you really need to read the first book to get into the whole scene. While some authors use up the first part of a new book catching the reader up, Palmer didn't do it so much in this. The hot vamp, the alternate world existing along side our modern world, the woman who didn't know she was a sorceress..sex, werewolves.. I waited a year for this second book and guess what? CLIFFHANGER! Drives me nuts! But I'll wait around for the third..it was enjoyable through the first two and the Italian vamp says and does so many right things! P
This second book is selling me the series. Quinn is coming into her own as she understands her power comes not just from magic but the opening up of herself to others. Arturo is right not to trust her despite the fact that she has made changes in his life he wasn't expecting. Add to this the fact that it is quite well written and fast flowing and the plot intriguing and we are sold as readers.

I was unsure of this series for two reasons. One the writing is solid, good but lacks a little flair, and secondly because the vampires in this are quite brutal as are some of the other creatures. However as the world unfolds and reasons become clearer then the cleverness of the plot also becomes clearer. The author intends for this to be a long ride so she is making sure interesting things keep us reading. The sex is hot, the underlying love endearing and the future uncertain which leads us to the next thought, what happens next?

Book 1, Blood Seduction, brings us to a parallel world, Vamp City, which diverged from Washington, DC, in the 1800s due to a spell cast by a great sorcerer. Vamp City is in perpetual twilight, safe for vampires, and vampires rule for better or worse. When Quinn Lennox is brought into that world, she begins to learn that she has rare power of her own. Her relationship with Arturo is strikingly uneven, as Arturo has lost much of the character and morality that made him essentially good. By the end of Blood Seduction, I hoped the two would stay apart.... but then I read A Kiss of Blood. I was completely hooked in the development of the relationship between Quinn and Arturo, and in the ebb and flow of trust issues. WARNING - A Kiss of Blood leaves the reader with such a cliff-hanger, it hurts! Ms. Palmer, write fast, please.
Normally I don't buy books like this, just get them at the library. Despite my revulsion of the first book, I couldn't stop reading it & was dying to read the next book in the series. This book turned out to be a pretty big disappointment & I have no desire to continue reading the series. It is spent mostly in Vamp City with the goal to restore the magic. Of course the magic is still not restored & we have to go into the next book to see what happens. It was just a tiresome read because even though there was plenty of action it wasn't anything new. All the shock value was in the first book. There just wasn't anything left for the author to come up with after that. I'm sorry I wasted my money on 'A Kiss Of Blood'
