So, my 7 year old loves zombies. I have given him several zombie books, including one of his favorites, Zombie in Love. I decided to give this one a try, but when I got it in the mail, I realized it was just a little too graphic for my boy. I can see how it would work for older kids, or some that are not quite as sensitive, but I just didn't want to put these images into his head. Yes, they are cartoons, and there is only black and white, with some read splurting out of some sort of wound on every page. It's not bad, but the one that killed it for me was the page with a zombie nailed to a door. It has nails all over it's body. Yup, too graphic for my son that does have nightmares every once in a while. Anyway, this would be awesome to give your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend that you watch Walking Dead with, but probably not super awesome for a younger kid.Tags : Ten Little Zombies: A Love Story [Andy Rash] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. I bought this present for an adult friend of mine. The writing was sweet, creative, and full of entertaining morbid humor.
Even when you think you can predict the plotline, there's a small twist at the end.
I don't know how appropriate this would be for kids--the humor's a little more adult.
The illustrations show blood, there are nail guns and chain saws.
One of the favorite gifts I've given of all time.
This is a ridiculously charming book! I bought it for my wife who is nuts for most things Zombie related. I assumed it was a take on the "ten little monkey jumping on the bed" narrative I've have seared into my head from reading that tale to my kids for years. However, this story is so much more. Its very creative with how the Zombies die and the graphics are well done. But the real surprise (and I don't want to give it away) but its ending is an emotionally satisfying "love story". This book would work well as a gift for a man or a woman (as the story works both ways). A nice treat for you or your significant other. (But not for little kids as its kind of graphic/violent deaths of zombies so I'd definitely say its for the over 12 population).
I am a new grandmother (my first grandchild just turned one), and my sister is the great-aunt, of course. My sister has always loved zombie movies, and she and her family love to watch horror movies. I got this as an extra little gift for her birthday, to tell her she now has a book to read to her grand-nephew! (Maybe several years from now!). It is a cute, little funny gift, and I really think that she will get a kick out of it. It's not a book for young children, but a book to set someplace, and I imagine it will be picked up and read by anyone who sees it, and will get a good laugh. It was packed well, and arrived very quickly.
This book is absolutely adorable and I loooove the story. I bought this for my 4 year old son who loves Zombies and he made me read it to him about ten times in a row the day we got it and then made sure to have it with him to take to Grandma's house the next day so he could "read" it to her. The poem is perfect, not too gory for little ones and it really is a love story. Nice that it's hard cover, but he took the book jacket off immediately so it's just a little black book floating around our house. I would absolutely buy this again and recommend it to any Zombie lovers or anyone looking for a fun story to read to your little ones.
I'm always on the lookout for something clever to give my husband when gift-giving holidays roll around. We're both zombie fans and so when I came across this short tome I decided to give it a look. It's a cute little play on the Ten Little Indians song I remember from childhood but with a zombie twist. You'll get to five little zombies and have the story figured out but it won't matter because the illustrations are bloody good fun.
If you're a really untraditional I think this would make a perfect Valentine's Day gift for your sweetie. I've seen gummy brains and mints shaped like brains that I'd have loved to put with this for my husband but I couldn't hold off that long. I gave it to him on Christmas and he read it out loud to our kids and guests who all thought it was hilarious. My kids then stole it and poured over the pictures laughing like crazy over the ending. It's bloody and a little gruesome but my kids are tweens so you cn make that judgement call for your own children.
This is a fun little read. For some reason I have been killing time at work looking for parody children's books and I came across this one for .99$ on . Well my love of Zombies and anything funny caused me to buy it. I probably should have left it be, because it is a picture book for grown ups and I read it in under a min, but the laughter I got out of it really brightened my day. As a father who has read these types of books over and over to my own child, I really got a kick out of this Parody.
There is only a sentence or two on each page as the zombies are killed, I couldn't help but chuckle at the clever rhymes, and the kid like art work. I wouldn't recommend buying this for the list price of 9.95$ hardback or even 5.99 , but if you can grab it on sale it is worth the read. I am sure when my son gets old enough to appreciate zombie humor, (he's my kid, of course he will be as warped as I am) he will enjoy this just as much which will justify my whim purchase.
I bought this for my 2-year-old, sort of as a joke as it really isn't appropriate, but it turns out she loves it. She doesn't understand zombies, but she seems to get that it is funny that they are being vanquished and she likes counting down their demise. Her grandparents are not delighted with her screaming, "ZOMBIES!" over Skype ... but what can you do?
